What is Frequency?
Have you ever walked into a room and felt immediately at ease even before a word was spoken? Or met someone who lifted your spirits without trying? These experiences are not coincidental, they are energetic and examples of frequency at play.
Everything in existence carries a frequency. From your heartbeat to the hum of the earth beneath your feet – all life vibrates. These vibrations are not visible to the eye but they are felt. Frequency is the pulse, the rhythm, the tone of your energy field and when two vibrations align or complement one another, they enter into a state known as resonance.
I sometimes think of resonance as the soul’s way of saying yes. It is that inner click, that sense of alignment, when something just feels true. In healing, resonance is not just a feeling, it is a transformational force. When we shift our internal frequency, we do not merely think differently; we begin to attract, respond to and co-create with life in new ways.
We are tuning forks in a field of vibrations, constantly exchanging frequencies with the world around us.
In this article, I will explore the nature of frequency and resonance, not in abstract terms, but in ways you can feel, notice and begin to consciously work with. We will look at how energy healing re-calibrates our vibration and how you can begin to tune into the frequencies that truly nourish and support your soul.
Frequency in Nature and the Body
Nature is one of our greatest teachers when it comes to understanding frequency. Everything in the natural world has its own rhythm and vibration. The gentle rustle of leaves, the spiralling pattern of a shell, the pulse of ocean waves – these are not only sensory experiences but energetic ones. We feel calmer by water, uplifted in sunlight, grounded amongst trees. Why? Because these environments emit frequencies that our bodies remember and resonate with.
Our own bodies are no different. Every cell, every organ, every emotion has a frequency. The human brain operates in waves – from the deep stillness of delta to the alertness of beta. Our hearts beat in rhythm, creating electromagnetic waves that interact with those of others. Even our moods affect our vibration: joy, gratitude and compassion tend to carry high, coherent frequencies; fear, anger and shame tend to pull us into denser, slower states.
Science supports this. Tools like EEGs and heart coherence monitors have shown that our emotional and mental states directly affect the electromagnetic field of the body. And beyond the physical, many energy practitioners and sensitives perceive subtle frequencies – what some may call auras or energetic fields. But you do not need to be a scientist or a mystic to experience this. You have already felt it:
-
When a piece of music gives you goosebumps
-
When someone’s laughter makes your whole body smile
-
When a space feels heavy, even though nothing is visibly wrong
-
When a decision feels right in your gut before you can explain why
These moments are your inner tuning system at work. Your body is constantly reading and responding to frequency, whether you are conscious of it or not. The more you learn to listen to these signals, the more powerfully you can work with them in your healing and daily life.
Resonance – What You Match, You Receive
Resonance is the principle that like attracts like – not in a superficial or wishful-thinking sense, but in a deeply energetic one. When your inner frequency matches the frequency of a person, place or experience, a connection forms. You begin to draw into your life the things that echo your current energetic state.
This is not about blame or spiritual bypassing. It is not saying that if something unpleasant happens, you ‘attracted’ it through negative thinking. Rather, it is an invitation to become more aware of what you are vibrating with on a subtle level – and to recognise your power to shift that vibration over time.
Resonance is what makes you feel drawn to certain people the moment you meet them. It is what causes your body to relax in one space and tighten in another. It is why you may leave a conversation feeling energised and inspired, or conversely, drained and disconnected.
When you change your frequency – through healing, self-awareness or aligned living – you do not force anything. You simply become a clearer signal. And that signal naturally begins to draw in relationships, opportunities and experiences that match it.
In energy healing, resonance is how change begins. Healing does not come only through love or truth (as many people think) – it comes when any frequency, aligned in timing and tone, meets a place of held density and offers it a new way to move. Sometimes this arrives gently, as in peace. Other times it comes as rupture, insight or even grief. It is not about fixing or forcing but rather about letting the right vibration meet the right moment, so the system can remember how to realign itself.
This is why modalities like light language, sound healing and energy work can carry profound impact. They do not impose change – they introduce coherent frequencies that gently invite the body and energy field to remember their own inherent balance. These vibrations create a space where healing can emerge, not through force, but through resonance.
The more you align with frequencies of clarity, calm and compassion, the more your lived experience begins to echo that state back to you – not as reward, but as reflection.
Resonance cannot be willed into place. It must be attuned to – felt, received and allowed.
How Healing Shifts Frequency
Healing is, at its essence, the process of changing vibration. It is not simply about ‘fixing’ symptoms or silencing discomfort – it is about attuning the frequency of the body, mind and energy field so that they return to a state of natural balance, flow and truth.
When we carry unresolved emotions, ancestral patterns, trauma or limiting beliefs, these often become held as denser vibrations within the system. They can manifest as physical tension, emotional looping or spiritual disconnection. These are signals that the body is asking for resonance with something higher.
Healing meets these denser places with frequency – through love, attention, sound, touch, breath or intention. It invites the held energy to soften, release and re-tune itself. This is why people often feel lighter, clearer or more centred after a healing session. The frequency has changed.
Whether it happens through remote healing, in-person healing, guided journeying, light language or simply holding space, the principle is the same: when we introduce a new frequency into the system, the energy begins to organise itself around it.
You do not need to be an energy worker to shift frequency. You are already doing it every time you choose stillness over stress, truth over suppression, love over fear. These small choices are energetic recalibrations.
Every breath is an opportunity to re-tune your field.
Tools to Work with Your Frequency
Shifting your frequency does not always require dramatic change. It is often the smallest practices – done with intention – that have the deepest impact. The key is to become conscious of how you feel and to choose alignment with clarity, peace or vitality where possible.
Here are some practical and accessible tools to help you refine your frequency in daily life:
Breath and Stillness
Your breath is one of the most powerful frequency regulators you have. Slow, conscious breathing calms the nervous system, clears mental fog and grounds your energy. Even a few minutes of stillness each day can re-tune your field.
Try this: Inhale slowly through the nose for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale through the mouth for 6. Repeat 5–7 times whilst placing a hand on your heart.
Sound and Voice
Sound carries frequency directly into the body. This can include music, toning, mantras or spoken light language. Your own voice is a vibrational tool and when you use it consciously, it becomes medicine.
Try this: Hum or gently tone a vowel (like “ahhh” or “eee”) and notice where it vibrates in your body. Let the sound shift naturally.
Nature and Elemental Connection
The natural world holds a pure, coherent frequency. Time in nature helps reset your system. Trees, rivers, wind and sunlight all speak in vibration.
Try this: Walk barefoot on the earth, breathe with the trees or place your hands on stone. Let your body attune to the rhythm around you.
Journalling and Energy Tracking
Writing helps bring unconscious patterns into awareness. It can also reveal the frequencies you are resonating with and help you choose new ones.
Try this: At the end of each day, write: “What energy did I embody today?” Follow with: “What do I wish to embody tomorrow?”
Intention and Energy Hygiene
Frequency responds to conscious direction. Setting an intention in the morning – even something simple like “I choose calmness this day,” – can help anchor your vibration. So too can energetic hygiene: clearing your field through breath, salt baths, sound or visualisation.
Try this: Imagine a soft golden light coming out from your pranic tube and washing through your body from head to toe, clearing anything that is not yours and restoring clarity.
You do not need to do all of these at once. Choose one or two that feel natural and consistent for you. Frequency work is not about doing more – it is about doing what brings you back into resonance with who you truly are.
Invitation
You are not separate from the energies around you – you are a living field of vibration, constantly in dialogue with life. The more you become aware of your own frequency, the more choice you gain over what you align with, invite in and radiate outward.
Resonance is not about control. It is about clarity.
When you begin to sense your own field more clearly, you notice what supports you and what distorts you. You begin to recognise which environments, relationships, practices and beliefs enhance your vibration and which drain or cloud it. This awareness is the first step in living as an energetic sovereign.
Know that you do not need to be ‘high vibe’ all the time. Healing and growth are cyclical. Your energy will ebb and flow. What matters is not perfection, but presence.
Start here:
-
Ask yourself, What am I resonating with today?
-
Listen without judgement.
-
Then ask, What frequency would I like to embody next?
Even the smallest shift – one breath, one moment of stillness, one conscious thought – can re-calibrate your field.
You are a tuning fork, a transmitter, a receiver of light.
Choose what you wish to vibrate with.
“Let come what comes. Let go what goes. Then see what remains.”
